Vietnam trip - Day 18 (12/18/11)

I got up around 6:30am again this morning. I got ready and left our hotel around 8:30am. A few of us went and got some pho for breakfast. I ate two bowls, a big and a small one. See, I'm that piggy...I have control :). The pho was decent, they used small noodle which I'm not a fame of but it was good enough for me to eat two bowls though :). After we ate, we went back to my cousin's place and my cousin and I went cruising. We went to some of the tourist places (see pix). We also stopped by a coffee shop and chill. I was able to get some Wifi and was able to FaceTime the fam :).
It's 1pm and we just finished lunch at my cousin's place, I'm full! My dad's sister and her daughter came out to Nha Trang and had lunch with us. They, my dad and aunt, we're talking a out bring us to there place for a visit. They live about 40mins from Nha Trang. They were going back and forth then the decision was made, were going. So they hired a driver and we left at 1:30pm. There were 7 (dad, mom, aunt, two cousins, myself and the driver) of us, we took the scenic view going there. We drove along the coastline and it was beautiful, on one side you have the ocean and the mountain on the other side. It would have been a lot nicer if it was sunny, it was cloudy but still nice.
The road condition is decent when we were in nada little out of the city of Nha Trang. Once we hit the so call "highway", terrible! The road has two lanes, one going and coming. It was designed for cars, truckers and mopeds. It it's not wide enough. Our driver was pretty good, he just took his time.
I was debating whether I should share this part or not. It's kind of personal but some of you kind of already knew a little about it and probably wondered if I'm going to find out with this trip to Vietnam. I've decided to share it with you guys because you're my families and good friends.
Anyway, we were driving and we pulled in a small dirt road that led up to a temple. We all got out of the car and as we walked toward the temple a short monk lady about 5ft walked toward us. My dad and other did a little bow ( Buddhists bow when we see monk). She brought us to a table and my dad, my mom, my aunt and I sat down.
"Please tell us the name and where the lady that brought him to the temple." "him" is me.
I has been told that I was adopted but never by my dad. My mom kind of mentioned it but not in detail. So the monk started to tell me how I was brought to the temple. When I was born, my bio mom was bleeding a lot but the doctor was able to reduce the bleeding and she was getting better. My bio father couldn't be there because he was soldier fighting against the communist. Where he stationed there was a big battle and he was killed :(. The news of his death got to my families and friends but the didnt want my mom to know because she was still recovering. Somehow words got to her about my father death :(. She couldn't handled the news and started to bleed again. There was nothing the doctor could do and she knows that she won't survive. So she told her best friend to take me and if she couldn't look after me then bring me to a temple. My mom passed away after 7 days of having me :(. (When i heard this part believe me i did everything to hold my tear back by thinking anything other then my mom.) After this point, I kind of start to tuned out but still remembered the legit of it.
Her best friend did everything she could be a lot people were poor during the war. So one day she saw a monk walked by her place and asked her to come in. She told the monk about my situation and that she can't afford to take care of me and my mom told her specifically that if she can't then only bring me to the temple and no place else. So the monk finally agree and brought me to the temple. It was just her and another monk that live at the temple. During this time the temple was small and poor not like now. She took care of me for a month or so but couldn't do it anymore because they were busy and very to little money. So she and my aunt inTuy Hoa is related or very close friend (I forgot) and knew that my aunt is married and looking for a child. She then brought me to my aunt and she wanted me. The monk and my aunt and uncle did some paper work and handed me over. However, I couldn't stay with them for long because her dad has lung problem and they afraid it might be contagious and I might get it. So my grandmother saw me and knew about my aunt's father situation and told my aunt to let me live with my grandmother and aunt and uncle can visit whenever. So i did, while I was living with my grandmother, my now mom saw me and wanted to adopt me. She and my now dad wanted to adopt another child. They talked to my uncle and aunt and they agree to let my parents adopt me. So that is the legit of it.
I was told that my families tried to find my bio mom and dad relatives but nothing so far. The lady that dropped me off to the temple did come to my grandmother's house to visit but I had already left and went to the states. That was the last time she had contact with my families. So, I don't my bio parents names and where my bio relatives are. All I know is that I was born in Nha Trang.

Ps- pix of the temple and the sister monk that took me in.
